Isn't It A Pity?
Isn't It A Pity?
My favorite image from my Colorado trip and perhaps my favorite image I’ve taken so far this year. Upon my hike back to my car after photographing this scene, the conditions quickly changed, and it began to snow very heavily. The trail and foot path that I was on began to fade with the snow and fog. I soon realized that I was lost and had been off the correct path for a good thirty minutes or so. There was an area with especially heavy snow that I kept falling into about waist deep. The effort it took to pull myself out of these snow holes every time made the reality of having to camp overnight and forget about returning to my car ever more real. I ended up getting lost for a good two hours until I finally found the trail again.
This experience though was very metaphorical and quite therapeutic in many ways. I kept thinking of George Harrison’s song Isn’t It a Pity for some reason, and how my contentment photographing this image had absolutely faded with the thought of getting lost. How quickly my mind shifted from having a great time out in the wild, to countless thoughts of worry and sadness rushing to my head.
